Penguin Adventure - Not the Usual Birds Seen Around Here
It is hard to be miserable in the company of penguins.
It’s hard not to feel happy in their presence.
An emergency call went out today in the neighborhood social media page -- "Is there a Doc Mcstuffin's who can fix Greg's broken wing?" The accompanying photo showed an injured stuffy (stuffie?) who needed surgery.
"Heck," I thought. I can probably do that. I have fixed many a beloved stuffed animal.* But I knew I would have to take a look at the injury to see if it was within my skill level or beyond me.

Yup. That looks like a significant injury. The wing was hanging on by a thread. |
Plans were made for Greg's family to drop him off with Penguin 1, his older brother (cousin?), who might need a little "refreshing." He'd had some of his "stuffing" loved right out of him.**

Equipment ready. Surprise! I'd organized my sewing boxes just a week ago. |

Greg's bloodpressure and Oxygen level stayed normal throughout. |

Penguin 1 had a small incision in the side for "stuffing." |

Stuffing seemed to work well and the incision repaired. |

Two penguins ready to go home. |
Greg and Penguin 1 headed home for rest and recovery with repairs that should hold for a bit. It was nice to be able to help out and especially lovely to get to know some neighbors a little better.
NOTES:
* I'd been accompanied by three of the kids' "woobies" ("stuffys" from a different generation) to the hospital some years ago. I know the value of woobies/stuffys. They deserve good care, repair, and conservation.
** Try as I might I could not figure out what happened to the missing stuffing as there were no holes.
