Penguin Adventure - Not the Usual Birds Seen Around Here

It is hard to be miserable in the company of penguins.  It’s hard not to feel happy in their presence.  ~ Charles Bergman, Every Penguin in the World: A Quest to See Them All An emergency call went out today in the neighborhood social media page -- " Is there a Doc Mcstuffin's who can fix Greg's broken wing?" The accompanying photo showed a n injured stuffy (stuffie?) who needed surgery. "Heck," I thought. I can probably do that. I have fixed many a beloved stuffed animal.* But I knew I would have to take a look at the injury to see if it was within my skill level or beyond me.  Yup. That looks like a significant injury. The wing was hanging on by a thread. Plans were made for Greg's family to drop him off with Penguin 1, his older brother (cousin?), who might need a little "refreshing." Once More Into the Wild (With My Sister)

There were once two sisters who were not afraid of the dark because the dark was full of the other's voice across the room, because even when the night was thick and starless they walked home together from the river seeing who could last the longest without turning on her flashlight, not afraid because sometimes in the pitch of night they'd lie on their backs in the middle of the path and look up until the stars came back and when they did, they'd reach their arms up to touch them and did. ~ Jandy Nelson, The Sky is Everywhere Even now when we get together we have a tendency to run "full out." And this visit was no different. We wandered -- in the garden, at the mall, to the ponds, and along the trails of Mother Neff Park.  In between our chats were talks with our brother, communications from kids and grandkids, dog kisses, and surprise cat acceptance we shared meals with friends and attempted to pace ourselves.
